Molly has always appeared eager and almost ahead of the game with her speech. In fact, at her 18 month check-up, her pediatrician was surprised to witness all of the words she had mastered and the correct associations with them!
In this past week, Molly has begun to pair words into meaningful phrases. I noticed it in the car as we were finishing the trip to St. Louis this afternoon. She held her right foot in her hand after she had pulled off that particular shoe. Molly then preceded to say, "Shoe off!" And she repeated it several times! Dad mentioned that she used the phrase, "See ya!" earlier that day at lunch with another little girl. He also pointed out that this farewell was accompanied by a hug and blowing a kiss! Such a sweet little heart!
Unfortunately, little pitchers have big ears. And she picked up the phrase, "Shut up!" after hearing it several times one evening. For clarification's sake, it was from an individual other than myself! I so enjoy watching her grow and learn about the world around her. She seems to drink up every experience that comes her way. I especially love coming up with ways to encourage and fuel her fire for learning. I wonder what her next new word will be...
